A brand new Red Band trailer for “This is the End” starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, and Jay Baruchel was released yesterday. I must admit, the trailer gives off that “You Just Saw the Entire Movie in 2 Minutes” feel, but it still looks hilarious. We see Rihanna fall in a pit, Michael Cera die, and Hermione steal all of their sh*t! While this movie is no Pineapple Express, it still looks like it will be a really, really good time.
And for those of you who, like me, don’t know what Red Band means, here is a little Movie Trailer 101. Movie trailers must adhere to the Motion Picture Association of America’s guidlines. These guidelines include restrictions like a trailer length maximum of 2:30, and the trailer must be approved for all audiences so it is viewable by both children and adults. Trailers that adhere to the guidelines can show a Green Band at the start of the trailer. This band includes the rating and other legal jargon about the audience. For trailers that don’t follow the guidelines, they must display a Red Band. The Red Band includes the rating (usually R, NC-17, or no rating) and includes the sentence – RESTRICTED AUDIENCES ONLY.
