HBO releases ‘True Detective’ Trailer

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Team Up

“You don’t pick your parents and you don’t pick your partner.  A smart guy who’s steady is hard to find.  You know, I was steady.  Rust, was smart.”

True Detective, HBO’s upcoming mystery series, follows two detectives, pessimist Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and family man Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), on a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana.  The series follows the relationship between the detectives over this 17-year period, starting with the first murders in 1995.  In the trailer, we see flashbacks to each of their past lives and early work on the investigation.  Towards the end, a more recent, ragged version of McConaughey’s character is revealed saying, “like a lot of dreams, there’s a monster at the end of it.”  Oooooh.

  1. I’m actually really excited for this. I found out about it last night while watching Newsroom (which was great and has me eager for next week’s finale) as well as a number of other shows in HBO’s fall line-up and it looks pretty stellar.
