Monday Man Candy – Rupert Friend

I want to tell you guys a little story.  It is the story of how I fell in love with Rupert Friend.  In 2005, the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice came out.  While I should have been crushing on Mr. Darcy, I couldn’t take my eyes off of Mr. Wickham played by Rupert Friend.  That is when our romance began.

I mean, just look at him.

Then one pathetic college night, I was in need of a good cry-fest and red wine so I decided to rent Young Victoria.  Whew, I’m getting emotional just typing about it!  The movie illustrates the epic romance between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Friend portrays Albert.  I dare you to watch the movie and not fall head over heels for the British actor.

God.  Love me, please.

Now you can find Friend on Showtime’s Homeland where he plays Quinn, a hitman with a heart.  I’m an avid fan of the show and I can’t help but root for a Quinn and Carrie hookup.

The sexual tension is so intense, and Quinn is obviously in love with the manic CIA agent.  Come on Homeland, let this happen… or at least show his butt again.

We take what we can get.

Here are some more swoon-worthy photos of Rupert Friend for your viewing pleasure.  Enjoy!

I think there’s room for two in that chair.

That brooding stare

That jawline

Monday Man Candy – Brandon Flowers of The Killers

On Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending The Killers concert in Maryland and as usual, they did not disappoint.  I can honestly say that they’re a band that sounds better live than they do on the album, and the album sounds pretty damn good.  A big reason of why they’re so good live is because the lead singer, Brandon Flowers, puts so much emotion into each performance.  In concert, the songs quickly take on new meanings.  As an audience member, it’s as if you’re hearing them for the first time.  It also helps that Brandon Flowers is pretty easy on the eyes.  With that in mind, enjoy the delicious photos below and the live clip that follows.

If you’re interested, here’s a playlist with the set list so you can have you’re own little Killers concert at your desk.  Enjoy!

Monday Man Candy – Kyle Chandler

This one is loooooooooooong overdue.  Over the weekend, the highly acclaimed film ‘The Spectacular Now‘ made its debut in theaters.  The film stars Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, but more importantly, Kyle Chandler.  Readers of this blog know that I am a HUGE Friday Night Lights fan.  And y’all, I love Kyle Chandler.  Here’s why:

He is a man’s man.  You can tell he’s not afraid to get a little dirty.

He looks pretty damn good in a suit.

The tousled hair, and he knows his way around a kitchen.

That furrowed brow.

Those dimples.

That smirk.

What more could a girl want?  For more Kyle Chandler, check out The Spectacular Now and tune into Showtime for The Vatican, a contemporary thriller about the political machinations within today’s Catholic Church.  In the meantime, I’ll be waiting patiently for the Friday Night Lights movie announcement (please, please, please).

Monday Man Candy – Michael B. Jordan

I first fell in love with Michael B. Jordan when he showed up on the fourth season of my favorite show Friday Night Lights.  As Vince Howard, he was a cocky thug who under the guidance of Coach Eric Taylor became the warmhearted, passionate quarterback for the East Dillon Lions.

Then on Parenthood he played Alex, a recovering alcoholic who begins to date Haddie and is an essential piece of her transition into adulthood.  I knew Jordan was talented from FNL but his emotional performance on Parenthood stole the show.

Then I watched the surprise hit Chronicle.  The movie follows three teenage boys who develop telekinetic abilities after encountering a large crystalline object buried in a cave.  Jordan plays popular student Steve who tries to act as the moral compass for the trio.

Next up, he is in the highly anticipated Fruitvale Station.  The film is based on the true story of Oscar Grant (Jordan), a young man who was fatally shot by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Oakland, California Fruitvale Bay station.  Jordan’s performance has been praised by critics as gentle and tough as “he effortlessly draws the viewer in toward him.”  The film hit theaters this past weekend, check out the trailer below.

Monday Man Candy – ‘House of Cards’ Stand Out

A few weeks ago I was looking for a new show to get lost in on Netflix.  Since I just moved to DC, The West Wing or House of Cards seemed like natural choices.  I opted for House of Cards (don’t worry, I love Rob Lowe and The West Wing will be next).  Kevin Spacey is unbelievable.  The writing is fantastic.  Robin Wright is gorgeous, etcetera.  But it’s Representative Peter Russo that holds my attention.  Every time he’s on screen I find myself going, “who IS that guy?”  He is played by Corey Stroll, known previously only for his brief appearance as Ernest Hemingway in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris.  Without much experience, his on-screen presence demands attention even when surrounded by some of acting’s elite.

In House of Cards, Peter Russo plays a rough and tough congressman from South Philly that gets himself into a lot of trouble.  There’s a few hookers, coke binges, and broken hearts.  Don’t all girls love a bad boy?

corey-stollI’ve got a little bit of a crush on the bare-headed actor, so sue me.  Or you could just watch House of Cards and join the fun.

Stoll has been recognized for being the breakout actor of this television season.  He recently accepted the lead in the upcoming FX series The Strain.  The series follows CDC doctor, Ephraim ‘Eph’ Goodweather (Stoll), who is investigating the outbreak of a vampire virus infecting New York City.  I’m not sure how great the plot will be but I’ll likely watch to check out Stoll.  I’m sure his career will be interesting to follow from here.

Monday Man Candy – T-Minus

Hello Monday!  At least there’s some Man Candy to get us through.

This week we are celebrating T-Minus (Tyler Williams), a Canadian hip-hop producer.  He is known for his tracks with Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Drake, T.I., Ciara, and Kelly Rowland.  While vacationing in Jamaica, Rock Paper Watch had the pleasure of meeting his parents.  They were great!  After talking with them, it was obvious that T-Minus is not only lovely to look at, but also a good guy with a strong vision for the future of the music industry.  He’s definitely one to watch and we look forward to following his career.

Monday Man Candy (Better Late than Never) The Men of Star Trek

Howdy folks!  I know, I know it’s Tuesday.  But it’s never too late for a little man candy.  To celebrate the premiere of Star Trek this weekend, let’s take a minute to enjoy the scenery.  Here you go, the men of Star Trek.  Live long and prosper!

Chris Pine

Those blue eyes.  The luscious lips.  That cocky attitude.  Sign me up.

“Oh, you want to snuggle? Okay, twist my arm.”

Zachary Quinto

He kills it on American Horror Story (literally).  He’s great as Spock.  And he dates Jonathan Groff, talk about adorable.

John Cho

Remember when he was just the background guy in American Pie?  I’ve been obsessed with John Cho since FlashForward.  Girls love a man in a suit.

Anton Yelchin

What’s not to love?  He’s sweet, sensitive, and a little cocky.  He’s got a killer jaw line.  Also, there is Chekov’s awesome Russian accent that’s sure to lighten the mood when things start getting intense during the Star Trek’s sequel.

Karl Urban

Hubba, hubba!

And we can’t forget the mysterious villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch
